A graduate of Covington High School, Katie first majored in pre-professional health studies at the University of Louisiana at Monroe before transferring and receiving her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Southeastern Louisiana University in Hammond.
Katie joined the Marchand Law Firm team in 2007. With a background in science and medicine, Katie’s first interest in the area of health law began with her work as a legal assistant, reviewing medical records, preparing medical review panel submissions, and assisting at trial, all alongside the firm attorneys. While pursuing her Juris Doctorate at Loyola University New Orleans College of Law, she continued her work at Marchand Law Firm as a law clerk, gaining invaluable experience for her future practice. Katie’s experience served her well, as she participated in a jury trial just a few days after being sworn in the Louisiana State Bar, giving opening statements and questioning witnesses.
Katie has established herself as a lawyer who builds relationships. Every client is important to her and she prides herself on being accessible to her clients to answer any questions that they may have. Utilizing her knowledge of the law and her ability to communicate with people, she takes the time to help her clients truly understand their case. For Katie, being a lawyer is about helping others and she gets a tremendous amount of satisfaction in being able to assist her clients as they move forward with their lives in a positive way.
With cases spread throughout St. Tammany, Washington, Tangipahoa, Orleans, and the surrounding parishes, Katie has successfully guided her clients through the litigation process in medical malpractice cases involving misdiagnosis, delayed diagnosis, surgical errors, and other medical mistakes, as well as cases involving general negligence and personal injury.
